Guest Room Makeover with World Market

Sad story. We haven't made any head way on the new house lately. Most recently we submitted a wetlands report to the county, but the property still looks exactly the same as the day we put in our offer. Boo.

To keep my mind on the bright side I'm striving to make our home away from home a little fancier. I spent part of the summer setting up our family bedroom at my parent's house and it turned out quite quaint if I do say so myself. Now, I'm moving onto my next project ... a guest room. 

Since moving two hours away we've been blessed with a few visitors who have made the trek to see us. Of course I want them to have a pretty space to lay their heads at night, hence the guest room plans! Hannah's room is bare since she is away at college and before she left she blessed my plans to turn her room into our official guest room. Yay!

Now, imagine these lovelies speckled about and I've got myself a real swanky guest room! Want to come visit? I'd make you my world famous buttermilk pancakes with warm butter and real maple syrup. Yes, I would. I'd even add in dark chocolate chips if you that suites your fancy.

I must admit, I was inspired by the rug first and built my dream guest room around that. Isn't that how decorating normally goes? You have an inspiration piece and allow it to lead the way? Don't you just LOVE that rug? Like, I really love it! Since each of these elements are neutral I think I'd like to add a pop of color by tossing a fresh coat of paint on the walls. I'm not feeling my sister's orange flair. I'm imagining a peacock teal or eggplant. Wouldn't that feel so cozy?
